The VSPN 3003 is a high-resolution underwater digital still camera developed by Oceanscan Limited and ECA Hytec, tailored for the offshore oil and gas, defence, and scientific sectors. This camera is designed for deep-water use, capable of operating at depths of up to 3000 meters. The camera offers both video and high-resolution (7MP) still image capabilities, with a motorized zoom lens (8 to 24mm equivalent to 38-114mm on a 35mm camera). It combines the functionalities of a color video camera and a digital still camera, providing high-quality images in real-time.

Key features include:

  • Resolution: 7.2 MP CCD sensor.

  • Optics: Motorized zoom lens, digital zoom (x2), and macro mode.

  • White Balance: Auto and manual settings (5 modes).

  • Shutter Speed: Adjustable from 2s to 1/2000s.

  • Image Formats: JPG, with storage capacity for 279 images at 7MP, 384 at 5MP, and 617 at 3MP.

  • Telemetry: Analog or digital video transmission options, remote control via RS232.

  • Depth Rating: 3000 meters, with an optional 6000-meter depth rating.

  • Environmental: Operates in temperatures from 0°C to 40°C, with a storage temperature range of -20°C to 60°C.

The camera is supported by specialized software including Photosuite, Videowave SE, and Digi Cam, among others. It is housed in durable 316L stainless steel (with an optional titanium housing) and is designed for rugged underwater environments.
