The VS3870 is a high-performance smart colour TV camera designed for underwater use, developed by Oceanscan Limited and ECA Hytec. It is built for use in offshore oil and gas, defence, and scientific applications. The camera is capable of operating at depths of up to 3000 meters, providing reliable and high-quality imaging under extreme underwater conditions.

Key features include:

  • Resolution: 470 TV lines with a 1/4″ IT CCD sensor for high-quality video output.

  • Lens: A zoom lens (2.5 to 25mm, F:1.8) providing a wide-angle view of 60° underwater.

  • Illumination: Minimum illumination of 4 lux (on scene), enabling the camera to capture images in low-light conditions.

  • Signal Output: 1 Vcc / 75 ohms composite signal output, with a PAL colour standard (NTSC available).

  • Control Options: Remote control of zoom, focus, shutter, iris, gain, and white balance via multiple control methods:

    • Logic remote control (zoom only).

    • Analog remote control (zoom and focus).

    • RS232 serial link (full control of zoom, focus, shutter, iris, gain, and white balance).

  • Material: 316L stainless steel housing for durability, with an 8-pin miniburton connector.
