Gaps Series

The Gaps Series from Exail are advanced Ultra Short Baseline (USBL) positioning and communication systems that integrate a USBL antenna with a fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) in a single unit. These systems leverage a unique 3D acoustic array capable of operating from deep sea to very shallow waters, including at angles above horizontal, making them highly versatile for marine applications. The systems are compact, combining inertial navigation systems (INS) and USBL technology, offering features like robust acoustic telemetry, wide bandwidth signal processing, compatibility with third-party transponders, and integration with dynamic positioning (DP) class 2 and 3 systems. They require no calibration, are omnidirectional, and can simultaneously track multiple targets. The Gaps Series includes models such as Gaps M3, M5, and M7, each catering to specific operational depths and budget considerations, with the M3 being more cost-effective and suitable for permanent installations. These systems are suited for various applications like surveying, cable laying, and marine construction, and they offer real-time 2D mapping and enhanced acoustic communication for controlling multiple subsea assets. The Gaps Series also supports a variety of Exail and third-party transponders and can be integrated with USVs and other marine platforms through a range of mechanical and interface components.
