Octans Nano is a compact, high-performance Attitude and Heading Reference System (AHRS) rated for operations up to 6,000 meters deep. Developed using Exail’s proven Fiber-Optic Gyroscope (FOG) technology, it provides reliable subsea navigation and orientation capabilities in a highly rugged titanium housing. Its small form factor, six-liter volume, and lightweight build make it ideal for space-constrained underwater environments. The system delivers accurate real-time measurements of true heading, roll, pitch, and angular rates with minimal maintenance and no reliance on ITAR-restricted components. It is optimized for advanced and legacy architectures, offering Ethernet and serial communication options along with GNSS and speed sensor input compatibility. Typical applications include navigation for ROVs, plows, trenchers, and monitoring of subsea structures. Octans Nano operates with high precision—achieving 0.5° RMS heading accuracy with GNSS aiding and 0.1° RMS roll/pitch accuracy without aiding. It supports a wide range of data protocols, has robust environmental tolerance, and offers long-term reliability with a system MTBF of 100,000 hours and 500,000 hours for its FOG and accelerometers.
