The I2NS™ (Integrated Inertial Navigation System) is an advanced navigation solution designed to seamlessly integrate with R2Sonic’s wideband multibeam echo sounder systems. This system provides high-accuracy geo-referencing and motion compensation for hydrographic surveys, making it ideal for vessels operating in challenging environments where GNSS signals (GPS) are often degraded or lost. The I2NS™ ensures continuous vessel roll, pitch, heave, heading, and position tracking by coupling Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) with RTK (Real-Time Kinematic) GNSS positioning.
With its compact waterproof housing, the I2NS™ is easy to install on the vessel’s center of rotation or directly on the R2Sonic multibeam system mount. The system works in both GNSS-reliable and GNSS-denied environments, such as ports, harbors, and areas with high multipath interference. The I2NS™ significantly enhances the quality and efficiency of subsea surveys by providing continuous position information, even during periods of GNSS outages.
The I2NS™ supports three types of accuracy configurations: Type I: 0.01° roll/pitch accuracy with RTK, Type II: 0.02° roll/pitch accuracy with RTK and Type III: 0.03° roll/pitch accuracy with RTK
