Rovins Nano is a compact and cost-effective inertial navigation system (INS) tailored for ROV navigation and offshore operations, capable of operating at depths up to 6,000 meters. It combines Exail’s high-grade inertial navigation capabilities with a competitive inertial measurement unit (IMU), built upon the company’s fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) technology. The system offers robust performance in position, velocity, heading, and attitude estimation, ensuring reliable operation even in cases of degraded or missing aiding sensors. It supports integration with various third-party sensors such as DVL, USBL, LBL, and depth sensors, maintaining open architecture compatibility and identical interfacing with other Exail systems like Rovins, Phins, and Octans. Rovins Nano offers heading accuracy as fine as 0.10° RMS with aiding and 0.15° RMS in less optimal configurations, while roll and pitch dynamic accuracy reaches 0.05° RMS without aiding. Its design ensures high stability, simplified operation via web GUI or serial commands, and reduced total cost of ownership. The unit is encased in a rugged titanium housing, optimized for harsh environments, and offers a data output rate up to 200 Hz with extensive protocol support, making it suitable for survey, IRM, dredging, and other subsea missions.
