TINSLEY 5915 TONE GENERATOR

The Tinsley 5915 Tone Generator is a precision electroding device developed with British Telecom for the location and identification of submarine telephone cables. Used primarily in terminal stations near cable faults, it emits a low-frequency sine wave signal to energize the cable, delivering up to 500 mA at 500V peak-to-peak. The unit allows fine control of current and voltage, with adjustable modulation frequencies from 5Hz to 40Hz in 0.1Hz increments. It features built-in safety circuits, frequency monitoring, and polarity control via a key switch. Designed for desktop use, it is lightweight (22 kg), compact, and highly reliable—making it a vital tool for submarine cable repair and maintenance operations.
